10 Sinhala Wedding Invitation Wording Examples
Sri Lankan wedding invitations usually combine a formal, respectful tone with a few specific details guests expect to see clearly: the auspicious time, the names of both families, and the venue. Here are ten lines you can mix and match, with English translations.
1. The formal family-hosted opening
අපගේ දියණිය / පුතණුවන් [නම] ගේ විවාහ මංගල්යයට ඔබගේ පැමිණීම අපගේ මහත් සතුටකි.
Translation: "We would be delighted by your presence at the wedding of our daughter/son [Name]."
2. The couple-hosted, modern opening
ආදරණීය මිතුරනි, අපගේ විවාහ උත්සවයට සහභාගී වී අපව ආශීර්වාද කරන්න.
Translation: "Dear friends, please join our wedding celebration and bless us."
3. Stating the auspicious time
මංගල මුහුර්තය: පෙරවරු 10.30ට
Translation: "Auspicious time: 10.30 AM."
4. The venue line
ස්ථානය: [ස්ථානයේ නම], [ලිපිනය]
Translation: "Venue: [Venue name], [Address]."
5. A warm closing blessing
ඔබගේ පැමිණීම අපගේ සතුට තවත් වැඩි කරනු ඇත.
Translation: "Your presence will add to our joy."
6. A short, modern thank-you line
අප සමඟ මෙම විශේෂ දිනය සැමරීමට පැමිණෙන ඔබට කලින්ම ස්තූතියි.
Translation: "Thank you in advance for joining us to celebrate this special day."
7. Including both families by name
[පවුලේ නම 1] සහ [පවුලේ නම 2] පවුල්වල ආශීර්වාදයෙන්
Translation: "With the blessings of the [Family 1] and [Family 2] families."
8. For a reception held separately
මංගල උත්සව සාද රාත්රී 7.00ට පැවැත්වේ.
Translation: "The wedding reception will be held at 7.00 PM."
9. A simple invitation line for close friends
අපගේ විශේෂ දිනයේ ඔබද සහභාගී විය යුතුයි.
Translation: "You must be part of our special day."
10. Closing with gratitude
ඔබගේ ආදරය සහ ආශීර්වාදය සඳහා කෘතඥ වෙමු.
Translation: "We are grateful for your love and blessings."
Mixing Sinhala and English
As with Tamil invitations, it's common to keep the warm opening and closing lines in Sinhala, and the practical details — date, time, address — in English, especially when the guest list includes people less comfortable reading Sinhala script.
Zippite's builder supports Sinhala wording directly, with a choice of two Sinhala font styles, alongside English, Tamil, Malayalam, Arabic, Urdu, Hindi, French and Spanish.
